Investors Launch of the film Yolungu Boy in Darwin. Chairman of the Australian Children's Television Foundation Mrs Janet Holmes a Court AO addressing those invited to the launch in Parliament House Darwin. Yolngu Boy is a 2001 Australian coming-of-age film that follows three Yolngu teenagers as they make the transition from childhood to adulthood. In order to find his father, a teenage Aborigine boy takes two friends with him on a 300-mile journey through Australia. The film was mainly shot in Yirrkala over the course of seven weeks, beginning on 20 September 1999 and ending on 5 November 1999. Financed by the Australian Film Finance Commission and the Australian Children's Television Foundation, produced with the assistance of SBS Independent and Film Victoria a division of Cinemedia. Sponsored by Qantas. Directed by Stephen Johnson, producer Dr Patricia Edgar Director of the Australian Children’s Television Foundation. Associate Producers Galarrwuy Yunupingu and Mandawuy Yunupingu. As the Northern Territory Education Minister Shane Stone had been a steadfast supporter of the Foundation and post politics some years later joined the Board in an honorary capacity and served long term as Chairman of the Audit & Risk Committee and for a period as the Board representative of the Federal Minister of Education.
