'Bubba' Tye retirement function

‘Bubba’ Tye was of Torres Strait background with local aboriginal family connections. In his youth he was an outstanding Australian Rules player who came to the Top End to play football. He stayed on in the Territory and for a period was a NT Government Ministerial driver who regularly drove Shane Stone. On his retirement the Chief Minister put on a morning tea to mark the occasion. ‘Bubba’ was a colourful individual who retired to Mandorah to ‘go fishing’.
