Chinese Timorese Association Club Opening

November 1997

The official opening of the Chinese Timorese Association Club by Chief Minister Shane Stone. Ethnic Chinese represent an important sector of the Darwin community. Mainly from southern China, they travelled through the Indonesian archipelago to Australia over the decades. Chinese remain important to the economies of East Timor and the Eastern Provinces of Indonesia. Mr Kuo Jan Wang, Taipei Economic & Cultural Office Australia Division Director. Member for Karama and Minister Mick Palmer, Chief Minister Shane Stone cutting the ribbon opening the Club and President Kivi Lay President Chinese Timorese Association Club.
