Darwin Commemoration of the Battle of the Coral Sea

Commemoration of the Battle of the Coral Sea fought from 4 to 8 May 1942, a major naval battle between the Imperial Japanese Navy and naval and air forces from the United States and Australia, taking place in the Pacific Theatre of the Second World War. Army Band in support. Catafalque party taking up their positions. Catafalque parties are mounted around memorials on occasions of remembrance such as the commemoration of the Battle of the Coral Sea, Anzac Day and Remembrance Day. The catafalque party consists of four members of an armed guard who stand, their heads bowed and their arms (weapon) reversed, facing outward approximately one meter from the memorial as a symbolic form of respect for those who have fallen.
