Correspondence from His Excellency Hartato, Coordinating Minister for Development, Supervision and Administrative Reforms, Republic of Indonesia, the Republic of Indonesia following the retirement of Shane Stone as Chief Minister of Australia's Northern Territory. Extensive mail, fax and telephone messages were received from the Asia Pacific region, throughout the Territory and from Australia wide, hence, a small selection of the correspondence has been included in the archives. Shane Stone had a long relationship with Hartarto dating from his service as NT Minister for Education & Training and as Minister for Asian Relations & Trade. Hartarto was among the most influential senior cabinet Ministers in the Suharto Government. Hartarto and Foreign Minister Ali Alatas were strong advocates for the Northern Territory.
