ABC analysis of the Fannie Bay By-Election held 17 June 1995. The result was unexpected. Ultimately Clare Martin was elected leader of the Labour Party following the defeat of Labour in the 1997 general election. A surprise win for some Labour was elected in 2001. The first Martin Government went on to consolidate their position over successive general elections. The end came with the result of the 2007 Federal Election where Labour blamed Clare Martin's standing in the Territory for the loss of the federal seat.
