Interview by Steve Liberman Morning Program concerning the intersection and competing interests of Native Title and Pastoral Leases where Labour reneged on their undertaking that pastoral leases unequivocally distinguished Native Title. Also a reference to euthanasia. The Native Title proposals were complicated and protracted. The Northern Territory had for decades been subject to the NT Land Rights Act 1976 (Cth) and subsequently, the Mabo legislation, Native Title Act 1993 (Cth) In calling for federal intervention given both Acts were Commonwealth legislation it was the only way forward to deal with the impasse. All State Governments were unified in their concerns. The Howard Government subsequently accepted the compromise 10 Point Plan crafted by WA Premier Richard Court, QLD Premier Rob Borbidge, and Chief Minister Shane Stone.
